Bathroom panels - can I paint over that

Our house have the most disgusting light brown bathroom panels instead of tiles. Any ideas if I can paint over that? Will the paint last, specially in the shower?

Probably not. Best idea would be to change the panels, there are a lot of panels made just for bathrooms in lots of colours/patterns
