Ceiling Join Tape Crumbling Covering Joints in Ceiling Repair Advice Needed

by NXSmiggy » Fri Mar 11, 2016 12:48 pm

Hi All,

At my partners house (Council house) it appears some form of tape has been used to seal the joins in the plasterboard ceiling. This "tape" has started to peel away and crumble (I think its has been artexed / plastered over) and it a bit of an eyesore.

I'm looking to paint the ceiling but need to repair the hole this crumbling tape has left. I don't want to do major work as she is looking to move soon, but it would be nice to "butter" up the room to make it look a little better

Does anyone have any ideas on how best to do this? The Ceiling look likes it has been stippled so some ideas on how to blend would be good too :)

Thanks :)

If your just going to cover it with paint, then you can use decorators caulk to fill in the areas. Just apply it with a silicone gun and smooth it over with a paint scraper
