Hi,

Hope someone can help. I need to fix a computer cabinet 400 (L) x 540 (W) x 353 (H) [mm] to a wall. The bricks are those cement type heavy bricks you get on a garage wall (in fact it is garage). I know I need masonry screws but they need to support a weight of up to 50kg.

What length and material is best?

(The cabinet rests on the screws like a picture frame or a bathroom mirror.)

Ordinary wood screws fitted into plastic plugs in the wall will be fine. Pick ones that claim to be hardened steel - you will need 4.5 or 5mm depending on how big the keyhole bracket is.

Thanks for coming back to me. There isn't a wall bracket. With these cabinets you just get your template of the back of the cabinet, drill in the appropriate holes, put the wall plugs in then the screws and the cabinet then hangs on the screws. My real concern is the equipment going in is rather expensive and has weight to it, so having the cabinet fall off the wall in the middle of night is not ideal.

If you do not think there will be enough support you could modify the cupboards and fit kitchen cupboard hangers. These would give you 2 screws per hanging point and would be adjustable.
