Hello, I've just finished my first coat of Hammerite Direct to Rust smooth plack paint onto my railings, but the result looks anything but smooth, please see attached.
What I did:
- I first sanded the railings a bit to remove some blobs of paint from older coats (from previous owners) and removed any rust I could see (didn't have to given the paint I am using but thought it wouldn't hurt)
- Cleaned the railings to ensure no dust
- Applied the paint as per instructions, ie no thinning, even though I did find the paint quite thick and hard to 'smooth' over the surface.
Is this a reaction with the older paint? Any advice is appreciated, thanks
