Painting woodchip wallpaper

How long after hanging woodchip paper can I paint it. Can I paint it with matt emulsion immediately after hanging?

Personally I would give it at least a day for the paste to dry properly before you wet it again with the paint.

No reason why not.

I agree with stevenc1603 you should wait at least 24 hours before painting as when it finally dries the joints will show an open joint this is because the paint on the surface will dry before the paper has stopped shrinking. Also all types of paper when painted when wet will continue to stretch and could lead to overlaps at joints and bubbles forming.
