Plasterboard repair after cutting for access to wiring

by Suzykate37 » Fri Mar 19, 2021 5:39 pm

Hi, wonder if anyone can help. We had to have a plug fitted and our electrician cut a hole out of our plasterboard to access the wires he needed. He managed to get it out in one piece and my question is, how do we put this back in the wall and secure it?

Hi suzykate37
What a useless electrical to leave you the problem.
Cut a piece of 12/15mm ply larger (30mm) than the hole in one direction, slightly less in the other. Fix this in place by screwing through the ply, then screw the cut out in position.
Regards S

Without sounding silly how do you get this in the hole? If I cut it bigger it wouldn’t get behind the hole?
