Please advise me on how to split this bedroom into two

by Swoolham » Sun Dec 18, 2022 8:08 pm

Hi,
I want to split my largest upstairs bedroom into two single rooms so my children can have a room each. Please see floorplan. Is this possible and what would be the best way to do this please? There are two built I'm cupboards I would like removing and replace the large window with two small ones? As you can see alternatively we do have a garage would that be best made into two single rooms?

Hi swoolham,
Best to convert the garage, its bigger, it can be isolated for building work and will probably add value to your house.

Hi, thank you that's what I'm now hoping to do. Do you think we could get two bedrooms out of our garage. There is a oil boiler at the back if that was boxed in would this be safe in a bedroom?

Hi swoolham,
Build a wall across the back of the garage, enough to enclose the boiler and form a downstairs loo, enter the two rooms via the kitchen cupboard and form a small lobby. Replace the back door with a window to get light into the rear bedroom.
You'll end up with two bedrooms around 3m square, for more space you could extend the garage rearwards.
