Insurance company will not repair leaking pipe under bathroom floor

by Philthefish » Mon May 31, 2021 8:17 am

I have a leak under a concrete floor in my Bathroom. My Insurance Company will only cover the digging up and locating the leak and make good after. I will have to arrange for the leak to be fixed. As the toilet has got to be removed where does H&S come in? You cannot legally leave someone without a toilet. I find this very bizarre from an Insurance Company. Looks like I will be paying a plumber to be on stand by ( if he turns up). Ridiculous. This job should be seen through.

Hi philthefish
You are lucky many insurance companies will only pay for repairing the damage caused by the leak. If the loo is going to be out of commission for some time see if the insurance will pay for hiring a camping type toilet.
Digging a copper pipe out of a concrete floor can be difficult and may lead to further leaks, if you can access either end run a replacement above follow level.
