Floor screeding / self levelling

by abbeymeadjim » Mon Nov 10, 2008 6:55 pm

Hi, I am trying to level out an uneven concrete floor. I've got about 25mm of height to play with, so thought about screeding, then remembered someone had told me you can add sharp sand to self levelling compound to bulk it out. Has anyone done this and what ratio can you add it ??? Jim

Don't use sharp sand .
You can buy an aggregate/small chippings from a local builders or flooring suppliers to reinforce the screed..
It will take a few layers to get it that hight even with an aggregate...

Take a look at the DIY Projects section at www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects.htm in particular the levelling a garage floor project.
