SOLVED: swapped one wire from L1 to L2 (which i hadnt used originally, because this switch is being used as a one-way (ie is the only switch controlling this light). But that worked.

Thght it was 1 way bcs it was only switch that controlled that light. But probably i was confused!

Double Light Switch on/off Position Question

We have just wired a new 1 way, 2 gang, switch plate, which works, but for one side the 'on' position is up, and for the other it's down, which looks odd and is impractical. Is this a problem with the new switch itself, or something we've done wrong?
