Mortar for repointing.

Hi. I need to repoint some brickwork inside a garage, prior to painting. I'm wondering what type of mortar would have been used originally, and what I should use to repoint with. I think the answer will be 'cement mortar,' but it's a single course of bricks, and from what I've read, maybe it should ...

Soakaway/drainage question

Just clearing out a strip of no-man's-land at the side of my elderly mum's garage, where my dad had hidden timber and bricks for years. It's slightly lower than next door's driveway and looks like water accumulates there. The garage is a single course of brick with a concrete floor, and isn't partic...

I have already told you what it means.

MK, the electrical company, think it can be a spur and a flex outlet at the same time.

Try googling for an MK unswitched fused spur if you don't understand what my problem is.

Re: Help Buying a Fused Spur.

Cheers everyone. MK, who's site doesn't help has email me back to tell me I want their K337WHI for my extra socket. The CEF site, and others, describes this as... "MK Logic Plus 13A DP Unswitched Fused Spur with Flex Outlet White" I can't find an explanation anywhere what the 'with flex ou...

Re: Help Buying a Fused Spur.

Well.

At least TLC have a decent pdf of MK's product range.

I'm still confused though, and it seems that MK do not make a fused spur unit.

A big choice of flex outlets, though.

Everybody must be fitting wall heaters instead of extra plug sockets.

Re: Help Buying a Fused Spur.

You'd think that was obvious.

But these items have a concealed flex outlet, by the look of things.

Cheers.

Help Buying a Fused Spur.

Hi, Don't laugh. I can't get to a shop at the moment, and I want to fit an extra socket. I want a particular make, and range, MK Logic Plus, and that brand in particular are labelling everything 'fused spur & flex outlet.' I'm guessing it's what I want, and it could serve as either. So fused spu...

How do you make a single bifold door?

Hi, I need a bifold cupboard door, and to match the others it has to be a flush ply door. Only one place makes these, to order, and they're £160. Do you think they attach two narrow door blanks together? I've just noticed that one place has 381mm blanks. I could pay a chippy to do this but it would ...

Best way to freshen the air in my flat.

Hi, I live in a flat by an urban motorway, and don't like opening my windows. There's plenty of air in the colder months, but it gets stuffy in the summer, especially my south facing bedroom. All rooms have passive wall vents, or fan in the bathroom, except my bedroom. I've puzzled for months whethe...

Re: Regs/Best Practice for Core Drill Hole by a Window

Thanks Eric.

It's 1950's brick with a pebble dashed rendering.

I think I'll have to be methodical, and ask the building owner's permission before I buy anything.

Cheers.

Regs/Best Practice for Core Drill Hole by a Window

Hi. I want to have a single room MVHR unit installed in my bedroom, requiring a 120mm hole. I don't think I can mount it high up as I only have a 500mm gap between the window and a wall. If it was drilled in the middle there'd only be a 190mm gap to the window, and also the wall. How close to a wind...
