The cavity tray should help prevent water resting on the window frame within the inner cavity. You would also need weep holes. Although a cavity tray can be difficult to retrospectively install. As long as the external walls are in good condition then water should get in the cavity in the first pla...

Sorry Stoneboy, wasn't being impatient, the first of the last two posts wasn't showing when I posted the second one. I've checked and the floor boards are running 90degrees to the wall so guessing my joists must run parallel to the wall with the lintel.
Anything else I should consider?

Hi Stoneboy thanks again for the response, what might be the solution if I have got a joist above, a specific lintel or forget it brick it back up?

Gotcha, so supposing there is, what might be the solution? Or is it brick the hole back up?
