Making your own insulated plasterboard?

I bought a couple of insulated plasterboards from Wickes a year or so ago and they were £40 each which I thought was expensive as they weren't amazing quality to begin with, but they were the only option they had. Everyone else seems to only sell in bulk or is collection only I've needed some more a...

Cooker hood ducting and chimney issue

Hi We routed some ducting through our kitchen ceiling for a cooker hood. But because of where the first ceiling joist was, we couldnt have the ducting flush against the wall. Instead we lost about 10cm or so and had to start there. It also meant that the ducting is at a slight angle from the ceiling...

One switch, two lights from a single ceiling rose?

I have an existing ceiling rose in my kitchen with a standard light pendant. I have attached an image that has the same setup (first image): Switch cable, bathroom light cable, backroom light cable and the cable in from the circuit/rose in the next room. I wanted to add a couple of spotlights in the...

Cooker Hood exhaust/duct

Hi I purchased a Candy CCE116/1X and I wanted some advice on the ducting/exhaust. I read the manual that said it requires a 150mm duct, which is fine. The problem I have is the hood will go against an internal wall (see pic) and the only bit of external wall is to the far left of the hood. I have an...

Re: Gap under insulated plasterboard and escaping heat?

I think expanding foam might have a similar issue to having the board level with the floor in that is may absorb or attract moisture which may work its way up the board and insulation

Gap under insulated plasterboard and escaping heat?

Hi I have bought a couple of insulated plasterboards (Knauf XPS Laminate Plus Insulated Plasterboard Tapered Edge) to go on a ground floor external wall that is cold and it cant be insulated externally. I understand that on ground floors, you need to leave a 10-15mm gap between the bottom of plaster...

Wiring a Fused Extractor Fan Isolator

Hi I am installing an extractor fan that has a built-in humidstat and timer. I ordered a '10A 3 Pole Fan Isolator Switch with 3A Fuse' to combine having both a fan isolator switch and a FCU. Has anyone wired one of these up before or would they have a good idea how to do it? It's more the 'L in' and...
