I agree, not many options really. Maybe white trunking up each side and across the top to contain the extension lead would be the best. You could speak to your letting agent/landlord and ask for their electrician to install a new socket. If you're happy to pay they'll probably be ok with it. A price...

It's probable that the mounting bolts have back-nuts which have rusted up and are now just turning with the bolt. If there's no other obvious mounting bolts, the chances are you might just have to resign to brute force and repair the damage after you get it off.

The advice you have is correct, don't put electric underfloor heating directly on PIR board, it will just melt straight through. Search for "Insulated Tile Backer Board" or "Underfloor Heating Insulation Board", unfortunately it's a lot more expensive but the right material for t...

Two-way switches have x2 wires connecting them both together, the current will travel down one or the other depending on the position of the switches. It sounds to me like the current is only able to travel down x1 of the wires. The other is either not connected properly or has been damaged somewher...
