Washer/dryer in bathroom

The washer/dryer in my kitchen backs up against the bathroom wall (which is just plasterboard). Are there bathroom safety regulations that would prevent me from turning around the washing machine (pretty much entirely within the existing cavity) so that it is accessed instead from the bathroom side?...

What is this underlay in closet floor?

Hi there,

Moved into flat and discovered this patch (see photo) of spongy material with a thin wooden border, under the floor covering. It covers the floor in a small room/closet. Does anyone know what that was for? Can I remove it or scrape it off?

Thank you.

Advice on privacy films on windows

Ideally want a one-way mirror that does not significantly reduce amount of light admitted. From a few years back my impression was that these privacy films were always removed after some time as they made room too dark. I now have to replace my windows and so wanted to hear if there's been any advan...

Re: Re-routing ventilation shaft in flat

Thanks S, That’s really helpful. We would definitely be staying within boundaries of our flat, which is easy as there are concrete ceilings between us and our neighbour above. Re-routing ventilation shaft in flat

The ventilation shaft in my flat runs straight across from kitchen/bathroom vents through the living room to the outlet on an exterior wall. (This shaft exclusively serves my apartment.) The problem is that the ceiling level in my living room is aligned with the ventilation shaft and so is drastical...

Re: Fuse box and washer/dryer in same room?

I posed the question as I was being overly cautious before any plumbing work begins.

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

Fuse box and washer/dryer in same room?

My fuse box is currently mounted at head height in a standard 4ft by 3ft cupboard/room. Can I also place a washer/dryer in this space or would safety regulations prohibit this?

How remove plastic joint between wall panels

I need to inspect the wall behind a built-in wardrobe. The back panel of the wardrobe is two flimsy pieces of MDF-type wood held together by a plastic joint - see pic. You can see where I tried to pull the joint out using a pliers but it did not give too easily! How can I remove that plastic joint? ...
