Worktops Colour Choice

Hi, Looking to replace our worktops. Currently white and we find it a bit too white with white units as well. The problem we have is we are finding it difficult to find a colour that also goes with our beige travertine floor which is heavily patterned with mottled and marvels bits. We asked a few wo...

Re: Early C19 Damp Grade II listed bungalow

You're welcome. Enjoy your new home. Everything you have outlined in your plan of action sounds good to me. Yes the IF is very important. Someone experienced in the trade e.g. a lime plasterer will probably tell you to what they told me which is to re-plaster every inside external wall in lime as th...

Re: Early C19 Damp Grade II listed bungalow

Hi, First off. If you can I would strongly recommend your survey is carried out by Heritage RICS surveyor not a regular RICS surveyor. Please please don't ever go to a 'damp specialist'. That industry is unregulated and have no idea what they are doing. Leave heritage properties to qualified heritage RICS surveyors. There will be an underlying reason for that damp and injecting the wall will do nothing (same for any other method). ...

Re: For Damp or mould proofing a Closet, can i use lining paper?.

If there is no structural cause of damp/mould (which I highly doubt in a closet) then it will purely be due to high humidity levels. Get a humidistat (they are cheap), if your room(s) are not between 50-55% RH then you are high risk to damp and mould. A well ventilated house will never suffer from d...

Re: Buying a house with damp after survey

Hi, Who carried out your survey? Normal RICS surveyor or a Heritage specialist ROICS surveyor. If it's the former nothing they tell you will be any use whatsoever for a period property like yours. A normal RICS surveyor generally knows nothing of period properties. If there is a damp issue it will n...
