You get an F for your maths. 70cm-68.5cm is 1.5cm difference, i.e 15mm & 7.5mm either side. I doubt the current hob is installed in a cutout just 8mm smaller on all sides than the edges of the hob. Confident it will be fine but i’m sure your insurer will accept it’s not an appropriate replacemen...
