water company foul

I have a site where am building slowly a selfbuild, it stalled in the pandemic and I'm having problems raising money where a large sum is locked up in the legal system. It is connected to the water for use of contractors but not the sewer. I don't really know what their policy is on building sites o...

Re: Wall height

Hi jintynut, Sorry to hear you have health issues and will have to employ a contractor. I suspect that if you try drilling a 14mm hole in the centre concrete core, that you may split it. How about drilling 6.5mm holes, screwing in 100x6mm stainless screws and casting around them. Regards S I was re...

Re: Wall height

Hi jintynut, Thanks for the reply - I can now envisage what you propose but I think you are making it over complicated and expensive. Try hiring a Hilti drill and bit for just one day and see how easy it is, or not as the case may be. I hope you don’t mind me asking but why do you need to reinforce...

Re: Wall height

Hi jintynut, I don’t think your proposal will work because the drill stand action will just lift the whole assembly as you try to drill a hole. Regards S The drill stand is fixed to the 1m x 150mm plate mechanically at one end, the pivot point is at the end of the plate away from the stand your sit...

Re: Wall height

Hi jintynut, You will have to use a good quality drill and drill bit.. I’d suggest Hilti but there may be others so try hiring one.. Regards S That is what I want avoid, i would find it physically tough doing that many holes I am of a certain age. I've thought of a solution, obtaining a cheap still...

Cutting ICF forms

I have to cut accurately in half Nudura ICF forms along their lengths, the straight lengths are OK they come without their insert webs unassembled, however the corners are assembled permanently. I have a semihobbiest table saw 10" which would help, a wood hand or circular saw would tear the pol...

Verticla dpc

I have an ICF construction coming out of a hill, it has a waterproofed retaining up one level the construction is designed with an outer brick skin which is knitted into another retaining wall to it's side so that they support each other. How do you put in a vertical dpc where the brick skin extends...

Re: Workmate problem with replacing table

I been to a couple of those spares sites, however I don't know which model number I have the label was destroyed long ago. I have been able to identify it by a critical path process which it describes it as type 8, there are 9, but the sites only go up to type 5 I think. I vaguely recall there are 2...

Re: Making a Garage Pit Watertight

Thank you Stoneyboy, If the latex or bituminous were allowed to cure or just before either go off the concrete is poured will that seal, the pit walls and floor were constructed using a waterproofing additive, the water-table drops quickly during dry weather.

Workmate problem with replacing table

I want to replace the table on an old workmate but can't identify which one it is, when I bought it there just 2 cantilever types now there seem to be 1/2 dozen.

Re: Making a Garage Pit Watertight

I was hoping to coat the old surface with something like latex or a bituminous product and while it's still wet pour in concrete.

Making a Garage Pit Watertight

I put a pit into my garage, under construction I ran out of concrete it wasn't possible to calculate properly due large boulders in the clay which had to come out, I returned to it a couple days later to complete. However due to high water table outside, as high as the floor surface, rainwater comes...
