Thanks for the help.

I'll let him know, but I will still have to remove the old plaster and skirting boards to get to the wall, then follow what it says regarding using the cream.

But the walls on three sides are crumbling as he is a lazy brother, so would it be still okay to do that and then maybe just scrape away the flaking paint, etc?

My main problem at the moment is finding the joists, I have found one but can't find the other, the loft is completely covered with boards so we cant see how far distance we need to be looking. We were looking at doing that as the ceiling is Lath and Plaster as it's a 1930 house, so best be safe than sorry.

Ceiling Replacement in Room With Horse Hair Insulation

I am about to start taking down a ceiling in a room that has horse hair as insulation, the ceiling itself is artexed and has cracks all over so we decided to have a go at doing it ourselves. The room measures 12x12 so we would need 6 2.4x1.4 mtr boards, we know there is going to be a lot of mess but...
