competent person

thanks for the replies. i'm not intending to do any of the work myself, i just thought it was an ambiguous phrase and wanted to clear it up before engaging any one to work on it.

competent person

hi
in the servicing section of my glow-worm combi instruction book it keeps mentioning that work must be carried out by a 'competent person'. Does anyone know how and by whom a 'competent person' is defined?
many thanks.

hot watertemp. with combis

hi
i have recently had a Glow worm combi fitted. I have the water set to a fairly modest temperature (you can put your hand under it) but when the heating is on the hot water comes through seriously hot. Is this normal and if not does any one have suggestions what is happening?
Many thanks.

one pipe central heating system

make sure the radiator valves are of the full flow type. standard valves will not heat the radiators to anything like their full potential

thanks for the reply htg sorry if i didn't make things clear. the 28 mm pipe was part of the old system and it ran between the backboiler and the hot water cylinder which have both been removed and a new combi installed. unfortunately it is a one pipe system (which the installer didn't tell me about...

a one pipe system is very inefficient and costly to run especially in large houses. they are most definitely not suited to a use with a combi boiler whatever a plumber might tell you. in my experience most plumbers don't have a clue about one pipe systems. first of all be sure that you have a one pi...

alda thanks again for your reply the rads did heat up on the previous system so i will take one off and check for sludge and if it is clear i'll try removing the head on one of the trvs. the installer has what i would call a'casual' approach to his aftercare so i am trying to find out the exact prob...

Alda Many thanks for your reply. I don't think the rads are sludged up as i didn't have this problem with the old system (back boiler) and the installer drained the system and pumped water round until the water ran clear. Some of the trvs are fitted to the return but i didn't think this mattered wit...
