your idea is spot on. don't listen to anyone who says units carn't be repaired. what they actually mean is they carn't repair them.

thousands of units have allready been repaired.

the answer is simple.

all sealed units react to temperature. In cold weather the units contract and can even implode. in hot weather the units expand and can even explode.
problem can now be solved fit a defogger valve.

trickle vents

If the windows taken out had vents fitted, the replacement windows must have vents fitted to meet fensa regulations.
The condensation is caused by excessive moisture in the bedroom.
Try dehumidifier.
Fitting trickle vents will not get rid of the condensation.

Sealed units fail due to the fact that they are not pressure equalized, the life span of a sealed unit is 5 - 10 years.
New technology alows the units to be repaired and last 4 times longer than replacing.
