Hi

You should check if you are getting a switch live to the boiler first. If you are then it's the boiler at fault and not the valve

Hi Sounds like the water in your hot water tank is boiling and it is venting into the cold water tank in the loft. There are a few possibilities. The tank thermostat could be stuck on constantly heating the tank another possibility is a zone valve or 3 port valve is stuck open or the immersion heate...

Just to add to that last post. If you want a boiler in the loft it would need to have a permanent loft ladder installed. Permanent lighting and floorboards fitted at least from the hatch to the boiler. As for the cost it depends on where you are. If you are in the Coventry area expect to pay about £...

Yep. Tried that.

It will work for a few days then that rad will stop working. The only way to get it going is to turn off some of the rads with the trvs and there will be a gurgling noise from problem rad and all will be fine again

Cheers

Hi Plastic can not be used after the meter. This needs to be re piped in copper. The route depends on how much you want to pay. You can run the pipe in the screed on the floor or under the floorboards if you have wooden floors, but it does need to be protected if in screed. Get a gas safe registered...

air lock after installing a new radiator

hi I installed a new radiator for a customer just before christmas and since then i have had a lot of trouble with the system. The system is a gravity fed system with a greenstar boiler. The problem is that the living room radiator (which is on the end of the run) keeps getting an air lock in it and...

pipe freezing kits

hi all, just a quick question. I am thinking of investing in an electric pipe freezer and wondered if any other plumbers out there use one regulary. The reason i am thinking of getting one is i do a lot of radiator installs in conservetorys and it would save a load of time and money if i could just ...

Hi I believe there could be 2 things wrong. Starting with the cheapest you could check the resistance of the c/h thermistor. This is located on the pipe on the left hand side going up into the heat exchanger. I think it is the top one. Pull off the wires and you should get a reading of 12m ohms at r...

Hi Sounds like you have an air lock. If you have a look in the boiler, just above the pump there will be a small brass item with a small plastic screw in the top. This is the auto air vent The screw should be loose. If it is covered in green mess and to hard to move then you will need to get this re...

hi If you are not happy with the fact that no one will be checking the boiler install call gas safe and ask them to come and check the work. You might have to pay a fee but it would put your mind at rest. As for the 'stunt' with connecting the 28mm flow and return, when you are in this trade you are...

hi All that is needed is that the installer is gas safe registered. What he will do is fit the boiler to the required regulations and then notify Gas Safe. Then Gas Safe will notify builing control. The reason why the builder needed to notify building control is because he possibly wasnt a member of...

changing back boiler for a combi

Hi all I have been called out to quote a back boiler exchange to a wall hung combi boiler. I would like some advice on the install as the back boiler has gravity hot water feeds to it and the new combi is being fitted where the hot water tank is. My question is would it be good practice to connect t...
