2 Rads fail to heat up despite balancing system.

Have had a new Exterior GRANT Combi Vortex Condensing 36 fitted. Getting hot water no problems. Have 6 Radiators of various sizes, though nothing remotely 'Big', and two towel rads. Boiler is ample big enough and should handle this amount of Central Heating no probs. Plumber has managed to balance s...

:D Change the oil boiler for a Condensing Combi, good makes are Trianco, Grant etc. These boilers have the expansion tank built in to them, hence no problem with where to put your expansion tank. Modern day regs dictate that it has to be a condensing boiler. Just go along to someone like Plumb Cente...

Should have wrapped them in Denso tape (basically cloth tape covered in grease).

You need to fit in a Non Return Valve in the plastic drain pipe run, between ur trap and soil pipe. You shdnt have a smell with a trap anyway, unless your foul water is backing up. Either way a non return valve will do the trick. They are sometimes known as condom valves as they have a rubber tube i...

You don't mention if you have central heating or not? How old is your house, and are the central heating pipes at any point located in the floor (Concrete)? If your pipes were not originally covered with DENSO tape or in conduit, they will have been eaten away by now with concrete. This would answer...

overflow problem

I know it sounds stupid, but from what you say it sounds like the pipework is plumbed up incorrectly, especially if as you say it's like a waterfall when you turn on the heating. Trace the pipework from the boiler, sounds like your flow/return pipe has been mixed up with your overflow or vent pipe.

banging pipes

Could be as simple as your pipr runs (under the floor) are not clipped adequately or even at all. Pull up a floorboard and have a look. If there's no clips holding the pipes to the loists this could well be your problem

re towel rad

You can buy TRV's for micro-bore from any good plumbers merchants. If you intend changing the valves, then yes you will have to drain the system. Would be worth re-doing the pipework at this stage. You could only really get away without draining the system if your Towel rad were exactly the same siz...

Boiler problem

From your description it sounds like you have an Oil Boiler?

If so the mostlikely problem, particularly if you say you give it a tap; is you need to replace either your Water Pump which can seize up, or you need to replace your Oil Pump.

re Your Problem

Couple of things you can try. 1st check if all your pipework (especially under floors) has been fastened properly to underfloor joists. If not movement in the pipes can cause the noise. Secondly find out what sizes valve your neighbour has fitted in they're toilet cister. You are able to change this...

Plumbing in Bathroom in ground floor extension

Recently extended our house out at ground level. Now need to put in drainage for new bathroom. I'm able to put in new soil pipe and manhole etc to run to existing soil pipe which has a vent. The distance from new toilet outlet/soil pipe to existing outlet is about 15 metres. Do I therefore need to p...
