Hot water issue

Running costs

I've been advised that it is more economical to leave the heating on a low setting, say 17c, 24 hours a day and when not at home as it is more expensive to heat the home up from stone cold twice a day, especially during this cold snap........ just wondering what the experts on here think.

TRV's

The 3 rads that are in the upstairs bedrooms still get baking hot even when I have the TRV's set to the lowest setting, it sounds like they need changing, or are they servicable ? if not would the whole system need to be drained to change them?
Thanks in advance.

Strange damp patch

I have recently noticed a small damp patch that has appeared on the wall at the top of our stairs, about the size of a 50p. The wall backs on to our bath and electric shower and the damp spot is about level with the top of the bath. The tiled wall look in good condition and the sealant around the ba...

The Vaillant engineer has been and gone and after scratching his head for a bit has changed the PCB after first changing some wiring.
It seems to have done the trick but as its an intermitent fault a bit too early to tell.

Its a Vaillant EcoTech Pro combi, I'm not sure what he replaced, says on the paperwork it was a diverter valve, the work was carried out by British Gas. The boiler is only 18 months old and only comes with one year guarantee.

You have 3 choices: -Put up with it. -Change the route of the vents, through doors (not direct to outside) -Get rid or disconnect gas fire - then you can seal vent up. Hi Htg engineer, Could you explain a bit more about venting through the doors, ( where would the fumes go)I have the same problem wi...

[quote="htg engineer"]The temperature of the room. If it was the temp of the rad or the water. Then 21 degree's would be met quickly and the room would still be stone cold. The head of the TRV is what senses the tempertaure, as the temp rises the liquid will expand in turn pushing the pin ...

Air Ventilation

I have a 9kw basket type gas fire and have 100 sq centimetre air vent fitted to outside wall. The problem I have is that I want to have a new porch built which will cover up the air vent, would it be ok to have the same size air vent built in to the porch so there is a continous stream of air flowin...
