Dear all, Many thanks for the help. I found that the spindle on the valve was stuck. I undid the motor controller and checked what happens when I have 1) HW only 2) CH only 3) HW and CH On (then turning the room thermostat on and off) I noticed that the motor turns the spindle collar turns in all in...

Chris_on_tour2002, Many thanks for the feedback. I didn't know so much was involved. The reason for a concrete floor is that (I know it sounds silly) I got some mice probs and they come in through the floor. I keep plugging the holes and its ok for a while and they find another way to chew through. ...

All I know is that my boiler has on/off timer and 1 hour override control for hot water and heating separately. i.e I can have HW or CH or both ON at the same time. Also I can have HW and CH OFF completely. I looked arou...

Thanks for the reply. What is a 3 port motorised valve and where do I find it? Can it be replaced by myself? Are all the valves of the same type? Like what do I need to check to buy a replacement? Do I have to drain all the water? Sorry to ask all this questions. By the way, I am not sure if this he...

suspended wooden floor -> concrete floor

Help needed, I am thinking of replacing my suspended ground floor with a concrete floor. My house is a terrace house. Is this possible? If so what do I need to do such as - does it need planning permission? - what do I need to check for so that the work is done to a good standard - what about electr...

Heating is ON when I only want hot water ON

Help needed, Can someone please help shed some light on this quirk I have? I just bought a house and noticed this quirk. The gas boiler heats water for the hot water tank for the bath etc and radiators for heating the house. The boiler has two switches that turn the hot water on/off and heating on/o...

cold water tap - turn on=clockwise and turn off=clockwise

Many thanks now that I know the standard. So I guess I need to replace the cold water tap head and presumably ask specifically for a cold water tap head replacement instead of just a tap head replacement.
Is my guess correct?

clockwise or anti-clockwise to open and shut taps

Help needed. This sounds like a silly question and I only stumbled on this quirk when I replaced the tap head gear for the Kitchen sink. The tap has one spout with a hot and cold supply taps. I replaced the hot and cold tap head gear. The quirk is (or may not be) the cold water is turned on by turni...
