Yes I want to move the socket from behind the radiator and change it to a double. Is it ok to channel out horizontally for that short distance, I believe there are some issues with this,

Can I chisel out the plaster horizontally at the same hight as the existing socket and what sort of junction do I need to join the wires?
I have a single plug socket behing a radiator which I want to move over a foot or so and change to a double. Can I do this myself (if so how exactly) or do I have to get an electrician?
