Hi Eric, Thanks for the reply. I just found it strange the part P say Switches, Sockets & CU and part M just refers to Switches & Sockets. I would guess that part M is refering to items that are in general daily use by a person and omits the CU in its wording as (hopefully) this won't need t...

Part 'M' Height Of CU

Hi All, Just a quick question. As part P of the building regs refers to part M (Access & Use of Buildings) with regards to heights of sockets & switches, does this include the height of the CU if this is being replaced ? i.e. does a replacement CU have to be between 450mm and 1200mm from FFL...

Hi, KWH stands for Kilo Watt Hours I'm not sure if it means something different to electricians but in the electrical supply industry it is how your electricity supply is charged for, for example a 100w light bulb will take 10 hours to use 1 unit of electricity or 1kWh of electricity, this is worked...

I'll try and get some recommendations from people that have had work done recently in the area, this will probably narrow my search down a bit. Everyone knows everyone else where i live, so it s...

Thanks Ericmark. I guess it might be a good idea to have the installation tested fully before i sign the contracts so that i can negotiate with the vendor if a full rewire is needed. The storage heaters won't need testing as they will be removed once the gas central heating is installed, so it will ...

New CU to 17th Edition

Hi, I am currently in the process of buying a house that is all electric. There is currently an old rewireable fuse consumer unit with a separate unit for the storage heaters. I am looking for a budget price for the North West region (if this makes any difference) of how much it would cost to have a...
