Help! - Alteration of position of Gas Meter

Help! Does enyone know if there is any other company other than the National Grid who can move a meter postion quickly? Got builders starting on Monday and just been told by Nat Grid I have to fill in an application form and then it will take 6-8 weeks before they send someone out! Didn't realise it...

Crabbers, I would be very interested to see how you get on with this as I want to do the same thing. It's been a year since we got planning permission and now we are near to starting the build we have decided that we want to split one big bedroom into two (partition wall) to make an additional room....
