Thanks for advice Rosebery. It's just that the room is quite long and when I see the current floorboards down it does kinda look better than I imagine having shorter runs across, plus there would be far less cutting involved. having said that I will take on your advice and run them from the light so...

Laminate floor direction

Hi and thanks in advance for your help or comments The room is long with the floorboards running length ways and the window is in the middle of the longest wall which means the boards are running across the light source. I have read that I should run the flooring across the floor boards as opposed t...

Thanks for your helpful reply. Just one other thing if I may. Would I need to earth the wall light from the spur. The spur has earth but the lamp cord doesn't.
Many thanks

Hard wire wall lights

Hi The Mrs just bought a couple of wall lights from Ikea but are plugged at the end. Could/should I be able to cut off the plugs off and hard wire the lamps ? I just want to connect them to a spur from the light ceiling rose.
Hope this makes sense.
Cheers

I'm tiling my bathroom and wanted to make sure the bath would fit ok. It's a free standing bath so I had to reroute some of the pipes. The bath came with a mixer tape and the fittings supplied were for 22mm pipes. As i'm still repairing a few old floor boards I had noticed the pipe layout. So I wond...

Bath Pipes

When I lifted floorboards to work on pipes for my bath I noticed that the hot water pipe had run from 15mm to 22mm and back to 15mm again and the cold was 15mm. Does anyone know why it might have been messed with and should I change them ?

compression fittings

Hi Everyone Before I fit my new bath I have had to reroute the hot & cold pipes. I have used a couple of compression fittings with end caps as bath is not ready to fit yet. I was wondering if there is some sort of test I can do or anything additional to make sure the joins are sound as I will be...

Floor boards

Hi
I'm at the stage now where I am about to put 12mm ply on top of floor boards. Some of the the floor boards were damaged and I had to replace but there are a few that have a 8mm gap. Will this be a problem ? They are all very secure and have no movement.
Cheers

Yes I will be putting board down so the gap should be reduced. I want to tile walls first so should I leave the bottom until I have tiled floor ? and should I fill remaining gap with wood / plaster ?

Thanks so much for your help

Skirting Board

Where I have ripped up the skirting there is now a gap from wall to floor boards. I will be replacing skirting boards and would like to know if it is best put down before or after tiling (walls & floors)

Thanks
