8ft posts should be installed at least 2ft into ground for long term stabillity, the sissor type shovel is a good tool as you say it does not make the holes too big. I would make holes at least twice the size of posts and as stated at least 2ft deep. Not sure about nail gun but definatly hire as the...

You can buy concrete sections to slot between post to use as gravel board.
Although not as good looking as wood, these would be a much better barrier for the soil.

Hi, can anyone offer advice on this please. I will start at the beginning. My son has recently moved into a 2 bed mid terrace house and his uncle in law is installing central heating, rads and two pipe system only.
