stoneyboy - Thank you for replying. I did wonder about an aluminum undercoat? Also do I have to sand the varnish off completely or just key it?

Painting a stained front door

Our front door has a dark stain on it and then a thin layer of varnish. I would like to paint the exterior side a black gloss and the interior a satin white. Do i have to do anything to the door before painting other than sanding it down? I am particularly concerned about the stain bleeding through ...

Correct amp fuse?

Hello

I am putting a plug on a heated towel rail in the utility room and wondered what amp it needs. The rail is 800w and I thought a 3amp would be right but I just want to check.

Thanks

I really feel for your daughter. I hate a cold bathroom. If it is a small space then a heated towel rail will keep the chill off. There is nothing so horrible as a cold damp towel when you get out of the shower.

In my opinion she should just whack the heating on.

Good luck to her.

I have done some BTU calculations and I am sending this one back. Just not going to work. I would rather have a hotter one that I can turn off rather than one that never drys anything. What a pain. I will lose the postage of £8.99 and however much it costs to send it back. I didn't sleep last night ...

Thanks Guys you are so helpful. Only just noticed that the wattage of the towel rail is only 180W. The space is small but is this even going to take the chill off? I wanted to be able to leave it on all the time without costing me a fortune but is this worth it? I want to be able to throw the kids w...

Towel Rail installation

I have tried to find this answer on the project pages but can't so I will try here. I have purchased an electrical heated towel rail for the utility/cloakroom. Does this need to be hard wired or can it be plugged into a socket. The socket is on a RCD but there is also a washing machine and sink with...

The building control is for the whole extension and wa submitted by the extension company. They also recommended the electrician but that work was not carried out under their contract (if that makes sense) I employed the eletrician myself. He then gave me the paperwork and I forwarded it to the exte...

ericmark - I have no idea why the forms are incomplete. I think they want to registration number and from my detective work he is not affiliated to any body. I had him on recommendation and his work seems very good to me and the other electrician.

Camden are being buggers.

I have check most sites by his name and postcode but I am drawing blanks.

I have an awful suspicion that he is not registered.

I have spoken to Niceic about it and they have so far been helpful but say that I need to get Camden Council to decide what they want done.

Thanks

Getting Part P for Building Regs

We had an extension built last year. The electrical installation was carried out by an electrician who has not filled out his paper work correctly and will not return my calls. Building control will not sign it off, even when I had an independent inspection carried out, as they want the original ele...
