Best Way to increase the rebate size on wooden windows?

I have wooden windows fitted with 14mm thick double glazed units. I need to increase the size of the rebate to take a thicker more modern double glazed unit.

Please has anyone got some good idea on on how to do this other than use a hammer and chisel?

I am adding a large extension to my house. The existing lighting circuits on the existing consumer unit already have more than 1200Watts of lighting connected to them. My idea is to fit another consumer unit just to supply the extension. Would this meet the current regulations? I don't want to upgra...
