Thanks stoneyboy - tried this, but unfortunately it didn't work. Ended up replacing the valve and then the ciphon, but it works now! Alison

Toilet flushes constantly

Our toilet has started to not stop flushing. After a full flush, instead of the cistern just refilling and stopping, once the main flush is over and the cistern has filled a small trickle of water continues to flow into the pan accompanied by a noise from the cistern that sounds like it's still fill...

Repairing small chips and hairline crack in basin

Is this at all possible, or a hiding to nowhere? A glass bottle fell on top of my sink this morning and has caused two small chips and a hairline crack to appear on the top of the basin (away from the taps and the actual water holding bit of it). Thanks that's really helpful! But how do I locate the uprights? I understand that you can't really use a stud finder as lath is generally more dense? Is that right? Is the only way to poke holes in the wall with a bradawl?
