Central Heating Pump Overrun

Hi All. Just started having a problem with my central hetaing pump. Never used to do this before. Anyway, for some reason the pump is now pumping hot water of its own accord around the house without the central heating or hot water being switched on! The only way i can switch off the pump is by goin...

Adding Inhibitor to F/E Tank

Having successfully cleaned, drained and refilled my system I managed to get the system working I just need to add the Inhibitor now. I did not add it has I refilled due to our system being more prone to airlocks and needed draining to get some of the rads downstairs to work - I don't want to mess w...

Radiator flush

Quick one! Just wanted to know, I drained my CH system but only realised now after filling it that one of the rads upstairs i didn't open the weathershield valve (thermostat adjustment on the rad), is it likely that the radiator upstairs would have emptied itself via the otherside so the lockshield ...

Gas boiler pipes rattling after flush!

Having cleared out my CH system, and bled all the radiators clear of air before firing up the gas boiler, I have found that when I switch on the boiler and really fire it up, the pipes leading up into the airing cupboard really begin to rattle - sounds like the Water hammer scenario! Is this normal?...

If an airlock is left in the CH system will this cause damage to the system or not?

Central Heating cleaner

Quick one. I have placed a central heating cleaner in my system just under a month ago. On the instructions it says leave the cleaner in the system for up to 28 days, under normal operating system condiitons. Does this mean it must only stay in the system for 28 days if the central heating is used e...

"Well i've managed to get air out of one of the radiators that i was having trouble with, and now it works fine. However - with all the other rads in the house closed apart from the final troublesome one downstairs - the pump seems to be pushing hot water back up the central heating feed rather...

htg. The pipe is coming from the wall, has the draincock at the bottom. This pipe then subsequently is connected to the radiator via the wheel sheild valve for the rad. Are you saying if i drain this for a period of time whilst the heating is on it will start coming out hot? Secondly is it possible ...

Also, is it advised to leave the cleaner in the system for 14 days or so even though there is an airlock? Will the airlock not accelerate corrosion? The other thing that is baffeling me is the rads that are cold, when drained via the draincock the waterflows out of the pipe but it is cold. If it was...

Thanks htg. Yes we do have thin pipes going to the radiators. Decided to leave the flush in the system for about 14 days and then will drain it. From your post i take your saying switch off all radiators that work, and switch on the one that doesn't and set the pump to max to see if this does anythi...

Central Heating / Radiator Issues

Hi. I flushed out my Central Heating system, as there was a lot of brown sediment at the bottom of the F/E tank (Rust deposits). Anyway once drained and cleaned, I filled up the F/E tank and added a cleaner. Once done I started up the central heating. All the rads upstairs heated up - I then diverte...
