Thanks for all the replys , I have fitted a FCU between the supply and load ,I have a 13amp fuse in at present but will bring this down to 7.5amp or 10amp,it all seems to be working fine now. Cheers zebb

Hi yes it is taken from the house via a switched fused connection unit so that I can shut down power from the kitchen.

Hi the spur is taken from a socket and fed through round plastic conduit underground about 18 - 24inches deep ,I have cut the cable burnt ends off back to good cable ,the socket had an electric oil filled heater and an extention plug with four sockets -tv -dvd palyer-music stereo-Christmas tree,I ha...

Think I Have a Wiring Problem for a Socket

hi all ,I took a spur 2.5mm squared to a double socket in my out house ,at the double socket in the outhouse I took a 1.5mm squared wire to a fused connection switch then from the fcu to the light switch, now it all seemed to work fine for 3 years but in the summer I'm unsure if liquid like lemonade...

gas fire not working

Hi folks my gas fire has stopped working,its a DGF -Dynamic gas fire of Darlington Co Durham- inset gas fire, its about 3 years old, the pilot flame lights but no gas will come through for the fire to light,anybody have an idea what the fault is ? Also anybody know a phone number for Dgf of darlingt...

do I need a plumbing certificate

I'm thinking of starting as self employed as property maintenance , do I need a plumbing certificate to keep me legal ? I can do most plumbing jobs, I will be working in Scotland, thanks zebb

Hi Eric ,ive noticed on ebay led gu10 bulbs of only 4watts - would these work off a dimmer or best off a standard switch ? Zebb

Hi thanks for the reply Eric ,my dimmer switch was a 400w max , I have ordered 10 new bulbs at 35w so new total 350w but I may see if I can get a dimmer with a higher rating. Do you think a dimmer is a bad idea with the Gu10 bulbs ? Maybe I should just change the dimmer for a standard switch ?

dimmer switch stops working

Hi folks , my dimmer switch works 10 downlights - 50w each the dimmer switch has stopped working after 3 weeks power going in , none coming out anny ideas

thanks for the reply eric , my kitchen is quite big , 5m x 5m , 3 x 35w bulbs to 1 transformer , i may change all next year to low energy downlights at 11w each when i have a bit more cash, cheers zebb

thanks for the reply eric it was much appreciated, I eventually went for the cheaper option and bought 5 new transformers 35w-105w halolite from screwfix priced at just over £8 each, they are much slimmer and lighter than the old ones that were from wickes , the wickes ones seemed to be much better ...

hi folks , my kitchen has 15 spot lights sunken into the cieling and they run on transformers , 3 lights to 1 transformer, they have been installed for 10 years now and occassionally are switching themselves on and off due to the transformers overheating with age i presume , now i can easily buy new...

I phoned the technical helpline and was told the new gas fire has an injecter making the new fire more efficient ,however the old fire was quiet and more realistic with its flames , the old fire had a bed of vermiculite with the coals on top , the new fire just has a bit of rope stuff and the sound ...
