Sorry i couldn't open your pictures. I guess when you say the lounge- this room is on the ground floor...if the chimney is a structural part of the house and is an exterior wall on ground level the damp could be rising from the bottom . If the chimney is at ground level....then this sounds similiar ...

Damp patch on an upstairs wall

Hi, I have a small damp patch in an upstairs bedroom at the top of the wall where it joins the ceiling. This wall is an exterior one and ridge tiles run straight accross the edge of the roof on this side of the house. There is no guttering on this side of the house, and the exterior wall is rendered...
