Thanks again for your reply. The sensor is red hot and I don't know if the continuous sparking should shut the boiler down. Perhaps the control board is at fault or maybe the igniter?? Do you have any ideas? Thanks

Thanks for your reply. My boiler is a genus ariston, type c boiler, 47/116/14.

It sparks continuosly between the electrodes. I don't know if there is a pilot on this type of boiler. Should it spark all the time and should there be a pilot? Any advice appreciated, Ta
