Acrylic Render Stains on Monoblock

I got a company to render a wall in our garden with a final coat of white acrylic render. Despite warning them prior to starting they have left a few white stains on the monoblock at base of wall. Any ideas on the best way to remove them?

Best Paint for Radiators

Some of my radiators have yellowed after twenty years of use. I want to freshen them up with a coat of white paint. Should I use special radiator paint available in DIY stores or is an ordinary oil-based satinwood better? I have spoken to several friends and they give differing advice.

Pairing Salus Controller with Vokera Compact 29A Boiler

I have a Salus RT305TX controller and a RXRT505 receiver connected to my Vokera 29A boiler. Having been away from home for a few weeks I cannot get the controller/receiver to pair. There are only 3 jumpers in the controller so two are always open. I am assuming the open jumpers should correlate with...

Re: Smoke/Heat/CO RF Interlinked alarms

Thanks Mr White. I have read regs again and you are correct the CO does not have to interlink to smoke alarms. That changes the issue. I will get a quote for a new mains one in the living room and to replace the two existing ones from an electrician before considering the RF route.

Smoke/Heat/CO RF Interlinked alarms

I currently have two mains wired smoke alarms in the hall and 1 mains wired heat alarm in the kitchen. All alarms are cabled together and are therefore interlinked. I live in Scotland and to comply with new legislation I will need to add a smoke alarm in the main living area and a CO alarm in the ut...

Repair/Replace switch

I have a chrome switch plate that has 2 dimmer switches and two light switches. The plastic button on one dimmer is split and does not work. I would like to buy a new plastic button but cannot find any on the net. Could someone point me to a supplier or are they not available as a part. Failing that...

Painting KRend

Hi,

I want to paint external KRend walls. I have been told to use Krend sealer before painting. Only Krend sealer I can find appears to be a water repelling product. Should I use it before painting or is there some other KRend sealant that I should use.

Thanks

Re: PIR Replacement

I typed PIR into screwfix search and assumed that it would list PIRs. They are listed as motion sensors. Screwfix by default lists user ratings from high to low so unless you change the sort order or go to last page you don't see the full story. There are no PIRs on screwfix site below £15 that have...

Re: PIR Replacement

Thanks for your reply. Sensor at back switches on for two minutes then goes off but switches on when movement is detected even during daylight. I will check tonight though in case sensor at front is dusk only. It might make sense as that is entry path to house. I have done several electrical project...

PIR Replacement

Hi, I have replaced 6 external lights - four at back garden and two at front. There are two Steinel PIRs - one at front and one at rear. The two front lights work for two minutes then switch off but do not switch on again when movement occurs. The four rear lights work as expected. I am assuming tha...

Re: Rewire E27 Fitting

Thanks for your reply. I did try inserting a screwdriver there before I posted. I saw the clips that the lamp screws onto to make a connection at the back of those holes and didn't want to push too hard. I will give it another shot tomorrow.

Rewire E27 Fitting

I need to rewire an E27 fitting in an outside light as the existing wire is not long enough. I have taken the fitment apart without a problem but cannot figure out how to detach the wires. Previous fittings I have used all had the usual screw holders for wires. Am I missing an obvious way to detach/...

Lifespan of Rendering Breezeblock Garden Wall

I have several long garden walls composed of painted breezeblock which are pretty ugly. I was planning to get them rendered and then painted. However I am concerned the render might have a short life because they are retaining soil and pretty exposed to weather. Am I right to be concerned and if so ...
