I am just a user and not an expert on this subject but I have been doing for many years what htg engineer advises ie/ using boiler temp control and variable settings of TRV's BUT I don't know if it's best or not - in fact I have today posted a question on the subject. optimising system performance

checking my oil fired system ready for winter and 2 questions to which I need an answer:-
1. What temp level should boiler thermostat be set at? (high/low/etc?)
2. Is it possible to check thermostatic radiator valves for proper operation? If yes, how?[b][/b]
