Noisy pipes!

When the central heating boiler stops there is a rumbling sound from the pipes, sometimes accompanied by a sharp knock sound. I can eliminate this by turning down the two gate valves on the pipes leading to the hot water tank in the airing cupboard but only if the valves are turned about 75% off. Wh...

Pipe vibration?

When the gas bolier central heating turns itself off I notice what seems like a vibrating noise from the pipes, only for a few seconds. Apart from this noise the c/h works as normal. I do not notice this noise when the boiler is heating the water only. Any ideas?

Central heating problem

When the gas central heating switches itself off I notice what sounds like vibration from a pipe for a few seconds. What causes this please? Apart from that everything else seems OK. It seems to be only when the central heating is on, not when the bolier is heating the water only.

Renewing Tap washers

The washers need renewing on the bath taps & I can find no way to isolate the taps without draining the water tank. I've checked under the bath & sink with no luck. Is there any way I can isolate the taps as I don't really want to waste the water. I seem to remember when a BG engineer renewe...

Cold Radiator(s)!

My mother lives in a council bungalow, the hot & cold tank are located in the loft & the water is heated by a gas back boiler. A while back we noticed the bedroom radiator was cold. Tried bleeding it but still cold, all the others were OK. Called out the council & without checking anythi...
