Hi Stoneyboy, Thanks for the reply. The other bedrooms open out onto the landing. I don't understand why fire doors are required on the other bedrooms as they have their own fire escape windows. Any idea of the logic behind this? Surely a fire that starts in the loft is not going to endanger anyone ...

Fire Doors & Loft Conversions - Help!

Hi Stoneyboy. Many thanks for taking the time to reply. So if you exit a loft space down a wooden staircase into a small, fire protected non-habitable room on the first floor, and then open a fire door to exit straight down another staircase out through an exit door on the ground floor is that ok? o...

Fire Doors & Loft Conversions - Help!

I am converting my loft which is fitted with attic trusses and intend to have the staircase from the loft coming down into its own non-habitable room which will be fire proofed. The door from that room leads immediately onto a landing with exit down another staircase to ground floor. My question is,...

Self-Levelling Floor Screed

Can anyone give me an idea as to how much I should be paying for self-levelling floor screed over underfllor heating? The depth is 65mm and the total quantity is around 6 cube.

Many thanks in anticipation,

Alan

Skirting? What is aesthetically right/wrong?

I am renovating a 200 year old house which has low (around 2100mm) ceilings upstairs and down. My architect is passionate about using a 7" torus or oggee but my missus likes a plain 4" bullnose (our architect is horrified at this). All will be white painted. Anyone else have a view? Is it ...

Applying 4 planning permission b4 existing permission starts

I am renovating a 200 year old unlisted property and have planning permission for a substantial extention joined onto one side of the property. I have not started the extention yet (other than having slab down) but wish to apply for permission to convert the loft, fitting dormers/roof lights in the ...

Fire Regs - 3rd storey escape route

I am applying for planning permission to install a new staircase up into an attic trussed loft therefore converting the property to 3 storeys. The foot of the staircase is in a storage room (not a bedroom or otherwise habitable room) which has a window in it. The door to the storage room leads onto ...
