I would hope your water is back on by now. Your boiler wouldn't (or shouldn't) drop its pressure by opening a household tap with no mains water pressure behind it. The heating system is a separate system connected to the cold mains by a temporary filling loop. If it does, then the filling loop may b...

Topic: COMBI BOILER WATER NOT HEATING UP CH FINE

If the heating is fine then the fault lies with the hot water controls. I'm thinking if there are no flashing lights then it is a flow sensor fault - the boiler doesn't know the tap is running so it does nothing. The fault could be intermittent - the flow sensor is failing, 'not failed' so it works ...

I imagine you've changed the tap already. You don't need to turn the heating off - just turn off the hot water on the programmer. Turn off the cold mains tap and run all the taps until the water stops running. For the broken tap, use some grips to open it. Fit your new taps and then close all the ta...

I've found the wireless digistat SCR you have is very difficult for people to understand. Have you set it up correctly as per the instructions? They are quite in-depth. If you must replace it, I always use the Drayton TP5000Si /RX1 RF which is very simple to wire in. To date I've never been called b...

What boiler is it? How old is it?
Does the burner light/ flame go out every so often when the hot tap is running?

It's likely to be the plate heat exchanger that needs changing.

You didn't say whether the heating pipes burst or the cold mains/ hot water pipes burst. What boiler do you have? I'm guessing you have a combi boiler? Check controls on boiler - is the hot water knob (if fitted) turned up? If it was a cold mains pipe, there may be dirt that has partially blocked th...

It sounds like you have a bathroom/ kitchen refurb on the cards. My soil stack is the same, in the corner of the house. You won't gain much room as htg has already said. The boxing around the pipe can be reduced to hug the pipe a bit closer but you'd only be looking about an inch all round. If you w...

The timer would be connected to the bottom immersion heater and the booster would be connected to the top one. The bottom immersion needs to heat the entire contents of the tank and the 'booster' will heat the top half - 'boosting' the hot water for a quick shower/ shallow bath. Your bottom immersio...

Your post would suggest the cold water is overpowering the hot water from the cylinder to the shower. You haven't mentioned whether the cold supply to the shower is from the mains or the tank in the loft. If it is mains, you need to run new pipework from the loft tank to the shower (cold in). This w...

I would agree with John MacLeod. I used to have a cylinder before fitting a combi boiler and once took a temperature reading of my hot water with the thermostat set at approx 55degC - to help prevent limescale build up. The actual temperature was 78degC! To get a 55degC temperature I had to have the...

Hi mekon3,

Is the hot water at the sink ok?

Is the loft tank full of water?

Is the ball valve operating correctly?

It sounds like the loft tank has emptied of water and not refilled itself.

I would get in the loft and check the above.

Hi htg. Yeah seals are good. The boiler looks brand new. I rang my old boss this morning - ex british gas engineer. Worcester 28cdi - "fail point J"

Hey Guys, Can anyone help me with this fault? Worcester 28cdi - it started with a seized fan. I replaced the fan and the silicone hoses which were cracked. All good or so I thought. A week went by and "Fail point J - flashing hot tap light" - occured, which is an air pressure fault. I foun...

Hi garethu, I have always used the TP5000/RX1 wireless controls when doing a combi install. A while back I fitted one to an existing Y-plan system and wired the RX1 into an LP241 which is similar to your FP715. The TP5000 ran the various programs and the RX1 (wired directly into the LP241) turned th...
