Awkward Blocked Pipe With Extension Built Around it

I've had an extension built around the bath waste pipe, and it appears to be getting slowly more and more blocked. After a few unsuccessful attempts with one of those bendy metal rods, I've looked back at the photos of the pipes (pre-extension) and noticed they are much worse than I thought. I thoug...

Removing Porcelain Tile on Top of Electric Underfloor Heating

Hi there. I fitted electric underfloor heating in my bathroom. Its just on primed plywood, taped down and then flexible adhesive on top. I've not actually grouted them in yet (its an on-going project) Anyway, my better half noticed that one of the tiles has dropped for some reason. And being a perfe...

Re: Prowarm Thermostat for Underfloor Heating in Ensuite

Sorry worked it out after posted.

I can either delete it, or explain. The front of the thermostat comes away from the rest and the back bolts on to the knockout box. Then the frontage of the thermostat just clips back on

Prowarm Thermostat for Underfloor Heating in Ensuite

Hi there chaps. Not posted here for a while. I'm installing a underfloor heating kit in my ensuite. I've done all the wiring under the tiles, etc. I'm at the stage where I'm connecting the thermostat to the mains and sensor etc. HOWEVER, I'd not looked at the thermostat block that closely before. An...

Re: Replace Ceramic Cistern System Inards

Here is the image. So I "think" the refiller bit has a leak. But I just need to know if I can easily replace the whole lot... I have assumed I will need to remove it all and then measure the washers etc so I can buy the correct fitting, but want some assurance before I go "gung ho&quo...

Replace Ceramic Cistern System Inards

Hello I have a ceramic cistern with a plastic "contraption" inside. This is all the refil regulation, etc. The ceramic cistern is sat on the toilet. I cannot replace it without replacing the entire toilet. The cistern has no internal container. Its just full of water. I have a dripping lea...

Terminating Mains from Cable to Security Light that Ran Under Bath

So I am refitting my bathroom and I had an electric cable running under my bath. This went outside to a security light. I have moved the bathroom round (long story) and now the bath isn't where it was, and thus the cable is in the way. I turned off the power and cut the cable in the airing cupboard ...

We had this not long ago. We think it was due to mould appearing in the system that injects the washing powder/liquid/softener. I tried cleaning it as best as I could and it helped a little. In the end we just replaced the machine as there are parts you just can't get to to clean. Now we don't use t...

Although more likely you will need to lift a floor board. Thanks for your help guys. As I thought, I'm going to have to lift the floorboards. That'll be a nice job for this weekend. If it follows regulations it should be assessable but DIY people don't tend to follow regulations so one has to be ca...
Maybe you can remember what you removed?
I haven't removed anything. I fitted the black rose and let the spot light hang. That's how they fitted, but the spot was screwed into the ceiling where the rose is now... I don't quite understand what the rest of your mess...

Changing spotlight to standard rose

Hi I'm trying to change an old spot light to a standard ceiling rose. I've taken a picture and uploaded it to http://bit.ly/kIDTbC When I've wired up 2 different roses, I get nothing... Could it be that there is a transformer somewhere? Is this why the spotlight has 2 cables attached to the connecto...

Put a sheet or two of kitchen roll over a patch of wax, and iron it. This will melt the wax, and the kitchen roll should soak it up. You might have to do it a few times depending on the extent of the spillage.

I have done it before with good results.

black tar? under toilet floor

Hi there. We're renovating our downstairs toilet, and the existing ceramic tiles were laid on top of vinyl. But under that vinyl is some black slightly sticky covering. I'm guessing some kind of tar, is it bituate? Anyway, I'm stripping off the vinyl too, back to the black stuff. It is a little smel...

Tips on getting this piece of laminate in?

I've laid 2/3s of my hallway laminate, but around the door frame, I cannot seem to get the tongue and groove to latch in. Basically, under the door frames are gaps so I can slide the laminate under (I've left expansion gaps along the walls) This means though, that I cannot lift the side of the lamin...
