if you have thermostats on your radiator, you need to remove the thermostat head and you will see a kind of pin sticking up on the radiator, you need to tap that pin with a hammer until it pops up. inside of your boiler you have an expansion vessel, when your heating is on the water in your system expands due to the heat, and the expansion is what it expands into. It just sounds like your expansion vessel needs to be reinflated!

if it isn't sparking then i would suspect the pcb, but my first thought was gas valve. what could have happened is the gas valve went then burnt out the pcb so may require both, make sure there is no sparking first. might be worth calling british gas n paying 10quid a month n get it fixed rather tha...

if its an old system then chances are its wil be gravity hot water, check if your pump runs when you turn on your hot water, if not it wil be gravity and you wil need to turn on hot water only and remove the t/stat from the boiler to boil out the airlock.

it means that the tap normally keeps the hot water and cold water until they mix, when its passing they are not being kept seperate, and because the pressure of the cold water is at mains pressure it forces itself down the hot water side, so water coming out of the hot taps are mostly mains cold wat...

your mid position or zone valve is passing, just means its not shuting off your heating circuit off when hot water is on. Its a very easy job for a plumber!

think that you have an airlock on the hot water side of your heating system (the pipes that actually heat up your hot water) probs best to get a heating engineer to take a look at it.

your mixer shower is passing, you need a plumber to fit a new shower mixer or fit a none return valve to the hot water pipe to the shower. hope this helps
