dust pan and brush, or use insulation board on top of joists and board straight over the top of the insulation.

yep best to lag pipes if you can reach them. Air bricks are there so the air can regulate the moisture content of the timber, preventing wet and most importantly dry rots. not sure what you mean? you will have a certain size soaker to each course of tile or slate running up the roof

tingles are not nailed to the battens, they slot in the join of 2 butting slates and then the next row of slates above are held down by these to prvent the wind from lifting them.

Its a way of regulating the moisture content of the wood so that dry rot cannot take hold. You need to retile the roof if the timbers are getting wet.
