I do all the boiler quotes for my firm. If this industry could quote via email or phone, the nation's boiler swaps would all be much cheaper. Because two tradesmen would not waste hours of their time quoting for a job that they each have only a 33% chance of earning a living from (assumes most house...

Frozen pipes will not stop your boiler from working, but they will cause the overheat to trip. The boiler will then stop.

British Gas do not warrant the internals of a 22yr old heap, for a year after a service. I think you are confusing a service with a maintenance contract.

No.

A Netaheat 10-16 is a very old boiler and far from having a clean bill of health it should be regarded as a decrepit old pensioner.

It always amuses me how many customers tell me their boiler has only had 'light use'. My boiler ran the London Marathon last year.

Options are; 1. You go out and buy a Powerflushing machine (£400-£1000 depending on quality) 2. You hire a Powerflush machine (£80) 3. You dose the system with sludge remover additive, eg: Fernox, Sentinel for a few weeks, then drain down, remove every single rad, hose out outside, then refill with ...

One pipe systems are slightly less efficient but the knocking noise does not warrant a complete repipe.

Buildings fitted with one pipe systems do not knock as part of the design, two pipe systems can be noisy too.

A more reasonable cost than what?

We have had 5 Connects. The TDCi is better, all use a lot of fuel. Weak spots are front tyres on 90hp and 115hp, central locking fails on side door and new part is £170 if you DIY, and the clutches on the early ones can fail at around the mileage you are looking at. I have a white one for sale in Su...

Not only can you put a boiler in the loft, you can also site a modern high efficiency boiler flue up a chimney.

We use a proprietary liner system with Vaillant, and Worcester Bosch have just brought out a chimney liner system for their new 30 and 40kwi floorstanding units.

Plumbcenter are showing 1 at their Malmesbury feeder. You can't collect from there.

If you can find a Plumbcenter open (!), they can order it for next week.

Most of the merchants are off till the new year. The Baxi Electromax is a niche product and you are unlikely to find anyone with one on the shelf on the 5th Jan, never mind about now. Forget the internet resellers, they don't hold any stocks of anything. You place an order, they ring round the merch...

If this is a sidewinder fitted into an immersion boss, then they aren't very effective.

If you want help I suggest you describe your system in greater detail, for instance, there are thousands of gas boilers and hundreds of stoves.

You could fit a Heritage Cooker, which has an integral oil boiler up to 140,000 Btu (around 35Kw). This would be large enough for most houses but you need to do a heating calculation (use the whole house heating method. If you Google "sedbuk.com" you will find info here. The difference in ...

As a total system solution, Honeywell Hometronic would be worth looking at if you fancy zoning the property into up to 16 zones.

Having extra pumps at the end of the property sounds a bit Heath Robinson from here, but then I haven't seen your installation.

If you had stated the boiler used a pump recommendation could be made.

How do you heat your HW in the hotel? Is the HW zone valve jammed open?

Do you have a bypass fitted and has it been adjusted?

All these things you need to look at before condemning the pump.

I would add that any larger heat pump system will use a thermal store of some type, due to the 'degree minutes' that give efficiency benefits, and the fact that creation of washing temperature hot water takes the heat pump out of maximum CoP mode. If the heat store is well insulated heat loss should...
