ADVICE PLEASE ON BOTCH JOB

Ok, I feel I have been unlucky, but really strangely niave whilst doing my house up. I am actually really surprised, as I am normally well 'on the ball' and ready for anything, but as in alot of cases I wasn't able to spend 24/7 with the workers I employed to do the house refurb, and now I am having...

Thanks for the replies -
The taps were all new as is the plumbing for the bathroom, its just the hot tap that comes on, at a reasonable pace, not a dribble, not on full either, somewhere in the middle.

Taps switching themselves on

I have just had a new central heating system installed, however when i switch the sink tap on, put shower on or flush toilet, occasionally it will switch the bath tap on. I spoke to a plumber and he said I must have left the tap on as taps don't just switch on, but it has now happened three times an...

Thanks for the replies. :D I have had a structural survey done, and got the report back now. Basically it appears that the 'structure' was questionable, even though there apparently are no solid walls internally. It came back with the usual amount of expected findings on a house that is a repossessi...

Sounds delightful! I am buying a house also, which has numerous dodgy decorated rooms, If the walls were in good nick and smooth, and the wierd colour scheme was just a layer of paint, I personally would use a couple of coats of good white emulsion, but if the walls were uneven etc I would line and ...

I was told about this sand blasting - isn't something that i wish to tackle personally, but i do want this horrid nasty old chipped faded red paint a gonner - so looks like i shall have to get someone to give it a go. I have no idea why anyone paints bricks, especially so many, as in this case this ...

Do I need planning permission for any size of extension?

Hello

If a single storey, example, 10ft x8ft extension room was added to my prospective house that I am currently buying, would I require planning permission?
Is there a certain size etc that doesn't require permission? Or would I need it?

Thanks
Alison

House has all stud walls - advice please

Hello I am in the process of buying a house. I didn't actually notice at first, but after a survey and my builder had a look around, he said that every internal wall was a stud wall, that there was no supporting walls. Is this normal? Is it safe? etc I haven't heard of this before. The house was bui...

B&Q cracked mineral floor tiles

Hello, has anybody had any problems with B&Q cream/sand colour 12in mineral floor tiles, they were on special offer and cost around £5 per box, per m2? After having two expensive new bathrooms fit and under-floor heating, I had the above tiles fitted on the walls and floor. The bathroom fitter/t...
