Thanks for reply, yes the stats and rads are all working fine, it just seems that an hour to heat a hallway up by 2 deg (on a relatively warm day - last week it took 4 hours) seems too long. As I said, most of the heat appears to be going up stair well and heating the 1st foor landing (which is wher...

thanks for the reply, no all the rads are getting hot enough, the problem appears to be that the hallway rad is too small to heat up the hallway sufficiently to make the thermostat cut out. The wall directly above the rad gets really hot, and the air at the ceiling by the stairs gets to about 25 deg...

ineffective heating - (repost)

I have been advised to re-post this topic: I have just moved into a new built house and the heating seems ineffective so if any heating engineers could offer their opinion i would be very grateful: House is 3 storey with 2 heating zones both controlled by thermostats one in hallway and one on 1st fl...

Hi, I'm not a Heating Engineer, but when you refer to ‘electronic valve switches’ do you mean motorised valves? I believe the motorised valve(s) respond to a call for heat either from room or hot water cylinder thermostats. The valve will open allowing water from boiler to flow, the boiler senses th...

System is basically all working as it should, all rads are getting hot and both thermostats (Hallway and 1st floor) have been cross checked with other thermometers. With an outside temp of about 8 degrees I noted following internal temperatures: Hallway 17deg Ist floor landing 18.5 I set the hallway...

Thanks for replying, I think I've probably not explained the problem properly, sorry!. When I said it won't shut down I meant the CH pump is continuously running and although the hallway rad is on full, the temp in the hallway doesnt rise suffieciently to switch the themostat off (set to 20 deg). It...

new build - ineffective CH

Hi, I'm looking for some advice please, we have a new build house (detached 3 storey), and I dont think the heating is very effective. Basic prob is that If we set the stat to 20 degrees it don't cut out! I have had heating on today for 4 hours (raising temp in hallway from 17 to 19 degrees), it see...
