Cutting lengths of wallpaper

What's the best way to mark up and cut lengths of paper. The drop is 2.5metres and the narrowest strips e.g. on the sides of the chimney breast will be only 25 cms or so. Unfortunately I don't have a table 2.5m long so it seems like it will be quite tricky to handle the paper without creasing it and...

So if the paper goes out of vertical around a corner what's the best thing to do? Should I butt the join at one end and overlap by a mm or so at the other to keep the next sheet vertical or to have a small gap and try and colour it in. Thanks Stoneyboy. P.S.
