Thanks. . .

It has been looked at by an engineer so I suspect the pilot is clean but he has run out of ideas. How easy is it to relocate the pilot assembly to the centre??

Warm air boiler booming when ignites

My father has a Lennox Duraglass G11 warm air heating boiler and occasionally when it ignites it makes a massive boom. I thought he was exaggerating til I heard how bad it was. He has had an engineer around but it has never been solved. Any ideas??

Thanks for your reply . . . If they are not integral/fixed appliances - such as a washing machine or fridge which comes as standard with a 3pin plug attached - presumably they are allowed to be plugged into a socket in the normal way. Can this socket be fixed to the chipboard cubboard below the work...

Wiring kitchen fixed appliances

Can you tell me if it is acceptable to have sockets for appliances such as fridge, washing machine and cooker fixed into standard chipboard cupboards below the work top. Also do these appliances have to be hard wired into a fused connection unit or can they just be plugged in . . . Thanks - steve

Unfortunately I still wish to retain the fireplace on the floor below. On the structural side - is there any reason why the brickwork couldnt be corbelled out to support the chimney above in the loft space?? We would only be talking about 5 inches or so. Im sure I've seen brickwork corbelled out far...

Chimney breast - trimming back

I have a typical Victorian terrace where the bathroom is off the second bedroom. I plan to build a stud wall to gain access to the bathroom. Annoyingly there is a chimney breast and fireplace on the party wall where I plan to construct the corridor. This means the corridor has to be wider to allow f...

Thanks for confirming that. There is a lot of outdated information on the internet. Even the leaflet sent to me from the Council was the same. Another general point - Do you know what dimensional tolerances a BC officer would expect me to work to?? If this house was straight and square I would be ha...

I contacted Bristol City Council BRegs Dept yesterday about problems I was having achieving the correct height of an escape window in a loft conversion on 2 storey property. With the position of the purlin it was going to be either too high or too low. He said dont even worry about it - the regs hav...
